Creating a portal account is the first step in joining AAPL and becoming a member. The process is fairly straight forward with a couple of points to note along the way, which I will cover in this section.
Let's get started!
From any page on the AAPL website you will see this box:
Once you click this it will take you to the Member Portal and ask you for some initial information as seen below:
Notice how it asks you if you already have an account, if you aren't sure then go ahead and enter your information on the left. Once you hit continue the system will look at the data and if your information matches someone in our system it will give you a prompt like what is seen here:
If this is your account then you can select it and go through the password reset steps listed under the "How to Reset Your Password" topic. However, if it is not your account then click the option for New Account and proceed to the next steps of setting up your portal account.
Ok so you're not in the system yet and we get to proceed!
The next screen you are prompted with is the Create Account screen, which starts by asking you if you belong to an organization already. Note: That anything with a red * is required information.
You can scroll through the organization by clicking the dropdown selection. If you do not see your organization listed or are unsure as to what to select, then you have two options.
1. I am not affiliated with an organization
2. My organization is not listed
The next section is your Basic Information and where if you would like, you may upload an appropriate photo of yourself; preferably not a vacation photo where you're 'kickin it by the pool, with a cold one'. This is also the area where you will set your password for the portal and website.
The next sections are the phone and address information screen, please read and follow the direction for each section, it's important to enter the requested data correctly.
Once you have submitted your contact details, you will be asked for your education and local association details, though it is not required to be a portal user it is required if you would like to be an Associate or Active member.
The last section is the organization relationship, if you selected no organization then you will choose this option here as well, if you did choose an organization you should select the option that says "Contact" as seen here:
