AAPL Energy Institutes offer a premium education event with a networking component. Held regionally around the country, these events are hosted by AAPL and have leadership coordination with corresponding AAPL local associations.

APPALACHIAN LAND INSTITUTE

The 2026 ALI will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 2-3. This highly popular institute is held annually in Pittsburgh and has sold out several years in a row. Topics are unique to Appalachia and CLEs are typically offered for PA, WV and OH.

SOUTHWEST LAND INSTITUTE

The Southwest Land Institute will return to Arlington, Texas, on Aug. 3, 2026, featuring first-class education, fun networking and America’s pastime in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Watch for information on this institute to be posted in the spring of 2026.  

ERIC HANSON MEMORIAL WEST TEXAS ENERGY INSTITUTE

The second West Texas Energy Institute will be held on Aug. 27, 2026, in Midland, Texas. Look for more details about the return of this institute and registration to launch soon!

TERRAWATT: AAPL Institute on Land Power in the Renewable Energy Era

Save the date for this BRAND NEW INSTITUTE! TerraWatt is a new AAPL Institute dedicated to exploring the evolving role of land professionals in the rapidly expanding renewable energy landscape. Scheduled for Sept. 24, 2026, in scenic Lake Tahoe, TerraWatt brings together industry leaders, legal experts, and landmen to examine how the energy expansion is affecting land, resource and infrastructure development across the United States.

GULF COAST LAND INSTITUTE

The Gulf Coast Land Institute will be held in Lafayette, Louisiana, in the fall of 2026. This institute focused on hot issues relevant to the region. 

WOMEN IN ENERGY INSTITUTE

Look for information on the 2026 WiEI to be released soon. WiEI is held annually in Houston and intended for energy professionals of all disciplines, providing many opportunities to make new, unique connections across multiple education tracks. 

DENVER LAND INSTITUTE

The 54rd Denver Land Institute will return to the Rockies in late fall.  

OKLAHOMA ENERGY INSTITUTE

Save the date! The Oklahoma Energy Institute is open to all energy disciplines and will be held in Oklahoma City on Dec. 3, 2026.
