Grants and Scholarships

AAPL supports a variety of programs, which provide for the membership, industry and public.

AAPL Education Foundation

The AAPL Educational Foundation, Inc. is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 charted under the laws of Texas. The mission of the foundation is to promote education for the members of AAPL and the general public. The foundation is also authorized to undertake activities reasonably anticipated to promote the welfare of the foundation.

The foundation provides financial support through grants to support education for AAPL members and the public. The foundation also provides financial support through grants for AAPL members who have suffered financial loss due to natural disasters.

Foundation Grants

Grants awarded by the Educational Foundation are intended to help fund projects and programs that (i) support the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), (ii) promote education, instruction, and training for the members of the AAPL to improve or develop their capabilities, (iii) instruct the public on subjects useful to individuals and beneficial to the community, and (iv) further the advancement of education. The foundation also supports AAPL members affected by natural disasters. 

Disaster relief grants to AAPL members vary greatly from year to year due to the unpredictable nature of natural disasters. The foundation has made financial grants to AAPL members affected by flooding, wind damage due to hurricanes, fires and landslides. In 2017, the foundation made disaster relief grants to AAPL members totaling in excess of $600,000.

Education Grant Application

The Educational Foundation grants up to $90,000 annually in support of education.

The foundation does not favor requests for capital expenditures, general operations, or multi-year grants, nor does it favor requests from religiously affiliated organizations. Please be specific about how you will publicly recognize the foundation in your grant application.

Landman Scholarship Trust

Undergrad and Graduate Scholarships

Each year the LST awards cash scholarships to qualified and deserving undergraduate and graduate students from colleges or universities which offer an active and accredited curriculum in natural resources management or similar curriculum who wish to further their training in professional land work, natural resources management or associated occupations.

AAPL Accredited Programs

Outstanding Graduate Award

The LST encourages all students to excel in their educational endeavors. To further this mission, the LST recognizes an Outstanding Graduate each year from among the graduates of AAPL’s accredited college or university programs who is pursuing a career as a landman and has demonstrated great leadership in their work, extracurricular activities and their student landmen’s association. 

Scholarship Application

Applications for student scholarships and the Outstanding Graduate Award are accepted each year. 
The application deadline for the Outstanding Graduate Award is January 11. The application deadline for student scholarships is February 1.
